Lane Head church was situated on High Road, the main A462 road, which runs from Wednesbury to M6 J11. The original building was erected in 1864 on the opposite side of the road. History: The church was built by a group of elderly men in the ‘village’ after one of them returned from a rally at Mow Cop and inspired them with his report on the event. It has been known ever since as “Grandad’s Chapel.” The former building was designed as a dual purpose building in 1961 at the rear of land owned by the church, with the intention of a new church being build in front of it, but this never came to fruition. Sadly, this building had to be demolished in April 2010. We are now worshipping and working at Short Heath Methodist Church, Wesley Road, Short Heath, Willenhall. The two Churches amalgamated on January 1st 2011. |
