| Services | Our Sunday services are:Morning 10.30am including Sunday School Evening 06.00pm Every second Sunday |
| Activities | We have a prayer group that meets at 9.45am most Sundays. Our Sunday School children join the congregation for the first part of the service and usually leave after the second hymn, or as arranged with Preacher. It is a very active Sunday School and produces productions each year which form part of morning worship on special occasions and are sometimes repeated as fund raising efforts later. The age range is between 3 years to 16 years of age and is always open to new children. Our Women’s Fellowship is another strong area and meets on alternate Wednesday afternoons at 3pm with a wide variety of speakers. We have a number of fund raising events during the year and these are advertised throughout the Circuit as they occur. We have a Mother and Toddlers Group meeting on the premises Wednesday from 9.30am to 11.00am and are always pleased to welcome new people. The first Monday in the month sees the Birchills Neighbourhood Watch meeting on our premises. This is a very well represented and attended meeting from all sections of the local community, as well as Police, Council Officers and Local Councillors. The group is very vocal on local issues and has had some pretty good results in uniting the community on issues of importance. |
| Further information | Reedswood Methodist Church is in Edward Street,Walsall, WS2 8RT. The present Church building was erected in 1902, but only took the name Reedswood in 1946, following the amalgamation of the Dalkeith Street and Pargeter Street congregations after the Prims Dalkeith Street premises were destroyed by fire, on VJ Day in 1945. The premises were extended in 1952 and again in 1995. We meet at 10.30am each Sunday and at 6.00pm on the second Sunday of each month. A new play area was constructed at the rear of the Church in 2004. Future plans for Reedswood are a constant source of discussion. We are situated in a very multi cultural area of the Birchills where, on the last survey, only about 25% of the area’s population would be classified as Christian, which makes outreach activities very difficult. Having said that, we do have a number of Asian and Caribbean Christians in our regular congregation. Add an ageing congregation and lack of people to carry out the necessary work of the Church, gives us plenty of ‘ food for thought ‘ in determining where Reedswood’s mission should be – Are we in the right area ? – Is our building adequate ?- Do we close and serve our Lord in other areas ? On a positive note, our Junior Church is still meeting on a Sunday morning with ages ranging from 3 to 16. They have been active in many of our services with productions such as ; ‘ Crikey Moses’ -’ Noah’ – ‘Resurrection Rock’ – ‘Peace Child’. All the children take part, assisted sometimes by more ‘ mature’ members of the Church ! Our Women’s Fellowship is another success story. The ladies meet on alternate Wednesday afternoons and have a very varied programme. We have a Communion service on the last Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. On a Wednesday from 9.30am to 11.00am a Mother and Toddler group use our premises, this has also been operating for many years but does have very fluctuating numbers, but nevertheless is very well run. On a Community note, the Birchills Neighbourhood Watch Committee meets on the first Monday of the month and has a very active and well supported membership and can, at times, be very vocal in their work for local issues.Reedswood Methodist Church – ‘ a friendly welcome awaits you’
