Services We hold one service on Sunday at 10:30am.  The annual Christingle Service is held at 6:00pm on the first Sunday evening in Advent.

On Remembrance Sunday the service is brought forward to 9:45am as the congregation can then go to the local war memorial at 10:45am, for a service there
Activities All of our regular weekly activities are now held during the daytime on Wednesdays.  The Friendship Club meets every fortnight at 2pm on Wednesday afternoons. There is also a midweek alternative “Café Worship” held approximately every six weeks at 11am on Wednesday mornings. None of our groups meet from early December until the second week in January.  The Friendship Club is a “youth” club for older people and we meet for a chat, sometimes keep fit, pool, darts, and table tennis. Approximately every two months there is a speaker, as well as making a number of theatre visits throughout the year and an annual outing and Christmas lunch. For over 20 years we have also organised annual holidays throughout both Europe and Britain, and hope that these will continue in the future. We have recently become “home” to a Boys Brigade and Girls Association Company, as their previous church is closing. They meet from 6.00pm to 9.00pm every Wednesday evening. This is a very welcome addition to our church family. The Wednesday dates of all of these activities are published in our quarterly church magazine as well as being placed on the door windows at the entrance of the church, so that anyone can find the dates and times of our activities. The church also has a Flower Club which meets monthly on Thursday afternoon at 2-00pm, where the members practice flower arranging. The church appreciates the beautiful arrangements that are made by them for special services, when they occur. Our premises are hired by BMKA and Willenhall Musical Society on Monday evenings, as well as being used as a polling station for both local and national elections. The local neighbourhood partnership  also hire our premises for police consultative and other meetings throughout the year. The hall is available for hire by any suitably acceptable group, by arrangement with the Property Secretary.
Further information The Church seats approximately 120, and the Hall around the same depending upon the activity. There is a smaller meeting room which caters for up to 26 for the smaller meeting. Portobello Methodist Church lies on the western boundary of the Circuit and is the only one in the City of Wolverhampton. We are situated in New Street, visible from the main Willenhall – Wolverhampton main road at the junction of The Keyway (Black Country Route). The present building dates from 1966 when road widening forced the closure of the former church which dated from 1862, although there had been a Methodist presence in Portobello from the early 1800’s. Currently the area immediately around the church is planned for major redevelopment as part of a “Gateway to Wolverhampton” project, and this will bring with it opportunities for Mission and Outreach. We are an active and friendly, welcoming Church with 34 members, but have other worshippers attending each week as well. We hold one service on Sundays at 10-15am. Everyone appreciates the efforts made the different Local Preachers and Ministers who lead worship each week, ably assisted at times by the readers and our team of Worship Leaders. The Church has an active relationship with the local infants and primary school who visit our Church to take part in “mock” weddings and baptisms, as part of their studies, conducted by our Minister, Stuart, and they enjoy the party afterwards as well. Although on the edge of the Circuit Portobello members always try to support Circuit events and to welcome new friends to Portobello.
